As with any football club, it only exists if people invest time and effort. This is always unpaid and can often be taken for granted or go unnoticed.
A few of our committee are visible most/all weeks but a couple undertake work in the background so not always at the forefront of everything, so don’t get the ad-hoc thank you.
The two I wanted to highlight for work over the last few years are Emma Everitt-Vine and Sandra Puleston.
Emma’s main role is as our Child Welfare Officer but additionally with recent events she has taken on everything that comes with Covid 19, which was intense. Emma is ALWAYS available for anything regarding Child Welfare, just pick up the phone or email to discuss. This means that whilst Emma may not be taking a training session or making tea, she has her pulse on everything the club has done, is doing and the plans. As I am sure you can appreciate, this is key!
Sandra is the second longest serving committee member only behind Julie, who founded the club. Sandra is the club & men’s team Secretary. Compared to some roles, this may seem on paper one of the ones that has lesser duties but what Sandra does is fill in the gaps, do the tasks that do not fall under someone else and give an honest and frank opinion. Along with her normal role, she also washes the men’s kit, which deserves a thank you and an article about that alone!
With the plans the club has for the next few years we can only achieve our goals if we have more Emma’s and Sandra’s. Have a think about how you could maybe add value to us and make the club better for all.
Thank you to everyone who gives up time to allow us to be the club we are!
